This one-day workshop is centered on community building and the preservation of audiovisual collections. Join fellow archivists and community volunteers to support the preservation of the Filipino American Historical Society of Chicago’s (FAHSC) audiovisual collection. Participants will receive training on the handling and care of AV collections and will be able to process a small collection of recordings. The collection includes over three hundred films and videos from between 1926 to 1987 that uniquely portray Filipino American life in Chicago. The workshop will begin with educational presentations addressing the identification of AV formats and their risk factors. Participants will then break into groups and work together to inspect and inventory the collection.
