Description: 

This workshop presents an opportunity to explore the planning, development, and implementation of exhibitions in archives and special collections. This workshop offers both practical training and theoretical knowledge about developing an exhibit in a special collections setting, from the initial idea through planning, exhibiting, and beyond, with a focus on the “exhibit cycle” and effective project management practices. 

The workshop will also delve into the realm of exhibit label design and writing for exhibitions, offering best practices and guidance on how to approach the task of writing. 

Upon completion of this course, you'll be able to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of developing an archival exhibit.
  • Develop potential exhibition ideas and initial plans to bring back to your home institution.
  • Expand knowledge on writing effective exhibit labels.
