This course WILL count towards the in-person requirement for the DAS and A&D program under the tactical & strategic tier and transformational tier.

In-person course will run two days---January 22-23, 2024 (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. U.S. central time). in Little Rock, Arkansas.

This course is a fully revised, combined course that covers material from Project Management for Archivists and Advanced Project Management, over two days in a comprehensive course that qualifies for both DAS and A&D certificate credit.

You are involved in a variety of projects every day. Through this two-day workshop you will gain the knowledge and tools necessary to successfully manage your projects. Not only will you gain basic knowledge of project management, we also will delve into the skills needed to manage more complex projects or multiple projects at the same time. Some of the topics for discussion include working with partners, hybrid work environments, risk management, change management, and quality management. You will also learn how to develop business case documentation that helps you get buy-in from sponsors and stakeholders, kick off your project, and keep it on track. Finally, you will learn how to evaluate the project management process and the project outcomes to develop a project management methodology that works for you and your institution.

Upon completion of this course, you'll be able to:

  • Describe the project life cycle from initiation to completion.
  • Gain an understanding of how to utilize a variety of effective project management tools and techniques.
  • Evaluate project outcomes and disseminate project information.
  • Demonstrate how positive personnel management adds to a successful project.
  • Describe the skills necessary to manage more complex projects.
  • Develop business case documentation for your project.

Who Should Attend:

This course can be taken by novice project managers or as a refresher course. Project team members who want to become more active in management are also welcome.

A&D and DAS Tier: 1 Tactical & Strategic and 1 Transformational.

If you intend to pursue the DAS Certificate, you will need to pass the examination for this course.

If you intend to pursue the A&D Certificate, you will need to pass the examination for this course.
