This course was originally scheduled for May 15, 2020 in Chicago, IL. Due to COVID-19 concerns and cancellations, this course will be held ONLINE. This course WILL count towards the in-person requirement for the DAS and A&D program.
This course will introduce participants to the basics of analyzing and manipulating XML data. Using examples in Encoded Archival Description and other XML standards, participants will build foundational XML navigation skills by discussing XPath, operators, functions, and regular expressions, building up to XQuery scripts to build reports and update/transform the original data.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
· navigate XML documents using XPath expressions
· use editor tools to query and update XML data
· create reports
· write simple scripts to analyze or transform XML data
· building on course content, further develop their scripting skills independently
