Are you faced with the challenge of preserving digital records? Then “What are my options?” is one of the first questions that you need answered to make an informed decision. This webcast addresses the criteria for a “preservation format,” the use of PDF/A as a preservation format, the limitations of PDF, the ISO PDF/A standard, the processes for converting electronic documents to PDF, quality control procedures, and general preservation management for PDFs.

  • Recognize the limitations and benefits of PDF and PDF/A in the context of preservation.
  • Outline processes for converting electronic documents to PDF/A.
  • Implement quality control and identification procedures that insure that preservation is maintained.

What You Should Already Know: 

This course builds on information presented in the Basics of Managing Digital Records course and basic knowledge of archives and computer technology is expected.

2. Communicate and define terminology, requirements, roles, and responsibilities related to digital archives to a variety of stakeholders.
